Use :
Do not make the first fire directly on the smooth plate. Place a 3 to 5 cm bed of ash, sand or sawdust to avoid a thermal shock that would break or weaken the smooth cast iron plate. Likewise, this process is mandatory when your fireplace has not been in operation for 1 to 2 weeks.
Never extinguish your fireplace with water.

Our firebacks are protected for the first few uses with a special paint that prevents soot from adhering. At the end of the season, take a fine and flexible wire brush, brush the plate well so that it regains its original appearance. Then pass over the entire surface, and particularly in the area of the heart of the hearth, a new black "Zebraline" type protection or similar. Indeed, the resistance of the plate depends on its regular maintenance. And the addition of carbon by this product prevents it from disappearing into your plate.
